.htaccess redirect

A single 301 redirect (used when a page has been moved permanently to a new location) is very easy to make.

Redirect 301 /old-file-name.html http://www.example.com/new-file-name.html

The code above is self-explanatory. Redirect 301 is the redirect instruction. /old-file-name.html is the URL of the old file. In this case, the file is a simple HTML file, but any address can be used. http://www.example.com/new-file-name.html is the new URL. The full domain name has to be used, even if the new URL is on the same domain as the old one.
